MCSSSD Successor Superintendent Search
The Mercer County Special Services School District Board of Education has launched the search for the successor Superintendent of MCSSSD.
The MCSSSD Board of Education is committed to conducting a transparent, inclusive and community-centered search process that reflects the priorities, values and aspirations of the MCSSSD community. Throughout the process, students, families, staff and community members will have opportunities to provide input that will help inform the leadership profile and desired characteristics of the successor superintendent.
The MCSSSD Board of Education has partnered with Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA), a nationally recognized executive search firm specializing in educational leadership recruitment, to facilitate the superintendent search process.
The Superintendent Search Process
Engagement
During the engagement phase, HYA and the MCSSSD Board of Education will gather input from students, staff, families and community members through surveys, focus groups and stakeholder meetings. Feedback collected during this phase will help develop the leadership profile and selection criteria for the successor Superintendent.
Anticipated Timeline : September 22, 2026 through October 28, 2026

Application Deadline: January 15, 2027
Slate of Candidates presented to Board of Education: January 27, 2027
First Round Interviews: February 7, 2027
Second Round Interviews: February 20, 2027
Target Announcement of Successor Superintendent: Week of March 8, 2027
Target Start Date of Successor Superintendent: July 1, 2027
